Logan Young, the University of Alabama booster convicted of bribing a high school coach to get Albert Means to sign with Alabama several years ago, was found dead today in his home in Memphis.
Police haven’t said much about the case except to say the body was beaten so badly they had to use dental records and fingerprints to identify Young.
Channel 3 just reported that police haven’t identified the body but according to the AP and other news sources, Young’s lead attorney Jim Neal of Nashville has confirmed it was Young.
Young was convicted but free pending an appeal that was to be filed July 14th. Listening to the Paul Finebaum radio show on the internet, the common theory is this may have been simply a crime of opportunity. Young lived in the affluent Chickasaw Garden’s community in Memphis and everytime I visited him, I found his garage door open. His housekeeper found him this morning. As far as I know, he lived alone.
I’ll write more about this later. There’s so much to say about Logan Young.
