So, the biggest story of the past few months or even a year happens and when it does….it’s on the first day after the end of the May book.
Don’t think some news managers didn’t say a few bad words about the FBI’s timing today. The May book came and went without any severe weather. I can’t remember the last time that’s happened. And don’t think for a second that it hasn’t crossed the minds of some news folks.
Day-to-day coverage of normal run-of-the-mill news doesn’t bring eyeballs to the tv sets. May means severe weather but I don’t think the mid-south had one tornado warning all month.
And then, the day several big name legislators from west Tennessee are indicted and hauled to jail (one is sleeping there tonight) and it’s 24 hours too late.
Who gets the prize for breaking this story? Not a tv reporter, radio host or newspaper…nope as far as I can see the first to break this story was state Representative Stacey Campfield of Knoxville. Rep. Campfield is (drumroll please) A BLOGGER!
His first account of the bust was at 6:57am
“NEWS FLASH!!!! 1 senator and 1 rep were supposedly taken away in cuffs. It is not who you think. more later”
later he goes on to name names, and then early afternoon comes this post,
“many legislators are still walking around like it is 9/11”
So a blogger breaks the story.
Wonder how much better this story will be in a few years when the legislator is posting video to the blog?
