FOX Drops Anchorwoman

August 23, 2007 by jameyt

Well…I liked it.

But FOX pulled the plug on “Anchorwoman” after the debut Wednesday night got only a 1 rating and came in 5th alongside competition that consisted mostly of repeats.

I hate to hear it because I actually thought the show was pretty entertaining.

In case you missed it, the former WWE ring-girl and Barker beauty walked into the CBS affiliate newsroom in Tyler, Texas and made everybody’s eyes roll.

“You know Edward R Murrow is rolling over in his grave don’t you?” the assignment manager asked the news director.

“She’s horrible” said the 5pm anchor who was replaced by the new hire.

The funniest moment came on her 2nd or 3rd day when she was sent out on a story with a photographer. Her second day was terrible as she acted like a fool or an idiot in the background of a live newsroom shot. But headed to her story she told the videographer “I’m sorry I’m not as good as Analissa” (the girl who used to anchor the 5pm news). Then the photog said “Oh…you’re already better than Analissa”.

Last night, somewhere deep in the heart of Texas, a news anchor/reporter cussed out a photographer.

Actually, she wasn’t half bad. She was terrible reading the news on her first day but after her idiotic dance behind the live-newsroom reporter, she seemed to straighten up and take the job seriously. And I’ll just bet if we ever see those un-aired episodes, we might find that she did okay as a reporter and anchor. Probably not Top-20 market material but I’ve seen a few anchors and reporters who do a lot worse on the air.
