Happy Birthday to the bearded one, my good friend Joe Larkins. He shares on his blog about thoughts while turning 50.
It reminded me of a little joke.
Three old men are sitting in the steam room at the Y when one says “Boy I hate getting old. Ever since I turned 60 it’s the same thing every morning. I wake up at 2 and I gotta pee. Walk to the bathroom, stand there and….nothing.”
Another guy says “Boy it’s worse when you get 60. Every morning at 2 I get up to pee, stand there for a while and nothing. Then again at 4, get up, stand there….nada.”
The next guy says, you youngsters don’t know how much worse it is when you turn 70. I get up at 2, 3 and 4 and get barely a trickle. I end up sleeping half the day because I can’t get enough shut-eye at night!”.
Finally, the senior member of the group speaks up. “Well, I wish I had it as good as you boys. Every morning since I turned 90, it’s the same thing. I pee at 6:30 on the dot and have my first bm at 6:31. Never fails. Every morning like clockwork”.
The 60 year old says “sounds good to me, what’s so bad about that?”
“I don’t wake up til 6:32”.
Jamey, is the story about the statue in Memphis at World Overcomers a big enough story for you to travel from Nash-vegas to cover it?
Good question.
I’m intrigued by this story, not as much for what the church is doing but by the reaction of people in the community.
Christians in America are getting more publicity now than any other time in my lifetime. Whether it’s “Passion of the Christ”, “DaVinci Code” or the songs on the Country Music Top Ten List, I don’t remember a time in my lifetime when Christians have been such a big part of the culture.
How they respond and how others see them will be something to watch.
I doubt the station will find it important enough for me to go there, but I will ask.
