Rupert Murdoch screwed up my Dodgers and now he’s screwing up one of my favorite tv channels. Turner South is switching to a new Fox Sports Network. Now I’m all for sports, but frankly between ESPN 1-4 and CSN and Fox Sports South, I pretty much can find games I want to see.
Turner South though, gave viewers something they couldn’t get anywhere else. Rick and Bubba? Off the tv airwaves now. I’m a big Rick and Bubba fan it was our morning show of choice for a long time. They’re funny but clean enough for my kids to watch. That’s hard to find in radio djs these days.
And there have been some other notable deletions from the airwaves since May 1st. Paul Finebaum was on XM, he’s gone now. Tony Kornheiser left his radio gig to concentrate on his Monday Night Football gig this fall. Gerry House and The House Foundation, another terrific morning dj is now on XM, but I can listen to him here in Nashville over the free airwaves. If you have XM and haven’t tuned into WSIX, check it out. Gerry and the other guys in the booth are absolutely hysterical. They don’t use filthy language either so it’s fine to listen to when you’re driving the kids to school.
I can deal with the changes. I miss Tony at 10. I miss Paul at 5. But I really miss Rick and Bubba in the mornings.
