Apple announced today the new iPod. It plays video.
It’s been the worst kept secret in the technology world as news leaked out weeks ago that a Video iPod was in development. It was denied (or lied about) but today they made it official. Apple and Disney will sell episodes of Desperate Housewives and other tv shows for play on the new iPod which goes on sale next week.
So what’s the big deal? Sure the younger generation will use it to play music videos but if you’ve toyed with podcasts you know the future. Shows, movies and news will be made available so viewers can have more options of what and when they’ll watch.
According to the article in Financial Times, the new video iPod is “a development that could further challenge the traditional model of broadcast television and allow consumers to view television, films and other content when and where they choose.”
