This is the time of year I really enjoy watching football. And since there are no games scheduled, I have to dig out the old vhs tapes of games of year’s gone-by. Last week it was the 2004 Auburn/Georgia game. Last night it was the 2003 Auburn/Alabama game. A few weeks ago it was an Auburn/LSU game from 1994.
As I watched I wondered what happened to Adrian Karsten. He was a sideline fixture on ESPN for years. I don’t know when he left college football or why, but I figure they decided to hire a good looking gal to roam the sidelines instead of a 40-something white guy. (isn’t that what they’re all doing these days?)
So I’m looking up Karsten’s name in google and find out that just last month he was sentenced to 11 months in prison for failing to pay federal income taxes from 1999 to 2002. He owed $167,000 in back taxes.
That’s a lot of dough, but Karsten earned more than $600,000 from ESPN in those 3 years.
