I went to Memphis today. I know that isn’t earth shattering news to everyone who goes to Memphis every day, but for me in the past year, trips to Memphis haven’t been very regular.
I decided to shoot some video at the Memphis Fire Museum. I’m working on a story for 9/11 for churches to use in their worship services on this 4th anniversary. The Ground Zero quilt, which I read about in the Commercial Appeal is at the museum and it looked like a good b-roll shot for the story.
So I’m driving through downtown and who should I see? John Ford. He was walking down a sidewalk in one of those loud yellow Hawaiian camp shirts talking on the telephone. For some reason I thought of grabbing my camera out of the backseat and popping off a shot. I don’t know why, I don’t know why I would ever need video of Ford. But that was my first thought.
Our house is quickly becoming finished. The carpet was installed today along with the appliances. But now my wife says the appliances are the wrong color from what she wanted. I thought we discussed it with the builder but she was totally surprised when I told her they were black. We’ll see what they can do.
It looks as though we may be closing and moving by the end of the month.
