I don’t know why we haven’t seen this on local tv or in the morning paper.
SOME CHURCHES HAVE CANCELLED SERVICES
ON CHRISTMAS MORNING
Christmas and New Year’s Day both fall on Sundays this year and many churches have made the call that they will cancel church services on Christmas to “give staff and volunteers the chance to spend more time with their families.”
I’m a little dumbfounded by this logic. Especially this year with so many evangelical Christians so upset with Target, Wal-Mart and Lowes for using the phrase “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas”. I’ve heard and read Christians saying “they just don’t want to acknowledge the true reason for Christmas is celebrating Jesus’ birth.” So are we now to understand that some of those same people are skipping church on a Sunday morning so they can open presents with their families?
I included the story in my ACTS Network newsletter last week and today it was the front page story of The Tennessean. It’s a good story, but we haven’t seen it in the Memphis media.
