Well, tomorrow’s the big game. I’m nervous. As is always the case when it comes to the Iron Bowl. See it really doesn’t matter who’s favored in this game or who’s had the best year, or who’s starting running back or quarterback is healthy.
It doesn’t matter.
It didn’t matter four years ago when Auburn was heavily favored at home. It didn’t matter the next year when bama was the favorite at home. It doesn’t matter this year that Auburn is 7 point favorites at home.
When I was a kid, I played sick the Sunday mornings after an Auburn loss in the Iron Bowl so I wouldn’t have to hear the bamer fans ride my butt in Sunday School. I played sick a lot.
I’ll put on my lucky jersey and start getting nervous around 10 for the 2:30 game. This’ll be my first Iron Bowl to watch in high definition. Cool. Wish I could record it that way.
By the way, that was me in the Commercial Appeal’s sports page as the Auburn fan of the week. I felt stupid mugging for the picture but as of last week no Auburn fan had submitted their name or story. I e-mailed Ron Higgins and told him if he didn’t find anyone else I would do it.
Tonight, we built a campfire in the backyard and roasted marshmallows and made Smores. I hadn’t thought that I needed a burn permit but luckily no one called the fire department. I finally sent the contract in to Nashville today so the move and job will be official soon.
Darn these second thoughts.
