Turn Off the Radio

September 16, 2006 by jameyt

I spent the past 3 1/2 hours at a screenwriting workshop in Franklin. Tomorrow morning, I’ll head back for an entire day of tips, advice and insight from three players in the Hollywood movie scene.

Tonight’s workshop wasn’t as much about screenwriting as it was about the inter-workings of Hollywood and how the movie industry types view people of faith. “They see Christians as condemning bigots who campaign against our work, who hate them and want them to lose their jobs” said one.

Who can blame them? (“them” being the movie types) that’s about all they really hear from the Christian world. I’m hoping that tomorrow will be more of the workshop I signed up (and paid good money) for. I’m missing “the greatest college football weekend in history” after all. I’m dvr’ing the Auburn/LSU game and will avoid any radio contact on the way home so I can watch it without knowing the outcome.

I really wish CBS had picked the Florida/Tennessee game for it’s afternoon game of the week so ESPN could have grabbed the Tigers/Tigers matchup. I’ll have to turn off my phone too as my dad and Steve Johnson back in Huntsville likes to call to gripe or gloat about Auburn depending on how the game is turning out.

More on the workshop tomorrow.
