Taking Friday Off

June 17, 2005 by jameyt

The bank project is now complete. Only two other projects are left before vacation time. The kids were home today, no day camp, so I’ve pretty much taken the day off.

I did get a surprise phone call from an old friend and former co-worker in Huntsville. Haven’t heard from Colby in 8 years. He called to swap stories and say he enjoys the blog.

Some of the folks I used to work with in Huntsville are back. John Pearson, one of the best and certainly the most fun to watch sports anchor is back at WHNT. Cliff Hill, who reported and anchored for years at WAAY is back anchoring the evening news. Colby’s back and while not shooting stories is running the desk at 31.

Huntsville was my best tv experience. Great market. Great city. Great people. Great competition between all three stations. TV viewers in the Rocket City truly love their local news. I’ve blogged before about how thousands of people would line up outside our station for an open house, and then stand in line for hours to meet the on-air folks and get autographs.

Every now and then I run into people who know me from Huntsville. Two years ago at Disney World a woman came up to me and introduced herself as a Channel 19 fan. She remembered me even though I had been gone for 7 years.

Now wouldn’t it be nice for Huntsville folks if Karen Tarica, Bobbi Harley, Steve Simon and Phil Robertson took to the airwaves again?

If I was to tell my Mom and brother (who still live in Huntsville) that I knew you, they’d freak out. 🙂

Got to meet Colby here a while back…seemed like a great guy. Very cool having John Pearson and Cliff Hill back on air too. Maybe a certain former WHNT 10pm anchor should be the next one to return?
