I’m in the beginnings of a project that could prove to be very big, very lucrative and very interesting. It’s a WWII documentary regarding the Battle of the Bulge told by the men who experienced it.
I met with one of those veterans today who wants to head up this project and make it happen. If it takes off, I’ll be going to Belgium, France and maybe Germany. I’ll have to get started soon, every day we wait is another day thousands of these men die. I think Tom Brokaw reported several years ago that 3,000 WWII veterans were dying every day. That average is down now simply because there are fewer of these heroes left.
I was in Batesville, Mississippi meeting with the veteran today. It’s interesting because the opening story in Stephen Ambrose’s “Citizen Soldiers” is about a young soldier from Batesville, Mississppi named Waverly Wray. Wray single-handedly wiped out many of the German officers when he stumbled about a meeting on the other side of some hedgerows.
The veteran I met with today had never heard of Waverly Wray.
I hope this project comes together. I’d love to help tell some of these stories.

Sounds like a great documentary. I am actually headed to Poland in about two weeks. We are going to see a lot of WWII sites.
take your video camera (like you hadn’t already done that).
If you get some good stuff, let me know. I’m interested.
